What is Mysimba Tablets?

Mysimba tablets are an effective weight loss medication that works on the psychological aspects associated with excess weight and weight gain. It is used for the management of excess weight in adults with a body mass index (BMI) of over 30 (or over 27 if you also have another high-risk condition like diabetes or hypertension).

How does Mysimba work?

• Works on psychological aspects associated with excess weight

Apart from an unbalanced diet and lack of exercise or genetic factors, there are many psychological causes for weight gain. The most common being excessive, uncontrollable hunger, ill managed portion sizes and “stress-eating” or “anxious-eating”.

Mysimba can help struggling patients with cravings and lose their excess weight quickly, effectively and safely, often changing their habits permanently to help lead a happier, healthier life.

Mysimba has been trialled and results have shown that it can help you lose an average of 5% of your total body weight when taken in conjunction with a healthy eating regime. The average weight loss after 3 months without treatment is just 1%. Nearly half of all Mysimba users lost at least 5% of their total body weight. Only 17% achieved this in the control group without treatment.

Mysimba can help patients who find it difficult to reduce belly fat which is associated with being contributory to many other serious health conditions such as diabetes, inflammatory disease and cardiovascular problems caused by plaque. The change in eating behaviour will also have many benefits for your overall health as long as the diet is kept balanced.

What is Mysimba?

Mysimba has two active ingredients, Naltrexone and Bupropion. Both of these work in the reward pathways of the brain and over time reduce feelings of hunger and alleviate food cravings. This is because they reduce the “good feeling” and pleasure that some people get when they eat. This is largely contributes to negative eating behaviour.

Naltrexone helps to curb cravings, Bupropion helps to reduce appetite. They help to safely reduce portion sizes and food consumption.

Both Naltrexone and Bupropion have been used clinically before but Mysimba is the first time they have been used together in one treatment.

How do I use Mysimba Tablets?

Mysimba tablets should only be used by adults over 18 years old with a BMI of over 30 (or 27 if you have other health conditions like diabetes). The normal regimen is as follows:

Week 1: one tablet each morning for one week.

Week 2: one tablet in the morning and one in the evening.

Week 3: two tablets in the morning and a single tablet in the evening

Week 4: two tablets in the morning and two in the evening.

If you do not lose 5% of your total body weight within 4 months of using the weight loss treatment Mysimba use should be stopped.

What are the side effects of Mysimba Tablets?

Any side effects should be mild. The most common are:

• Insomnia and restlessness
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Constipation
• Palpitations
• Hot flushes
• Anxiety
• Dizziness
• Lack of concentration
• Muscular pain
